Instructions
  1. Add salt to the prawns and keep them aside. In a wok or pan, add the butter and olive oil.
  2. Once heated, add in the chopped garlic and saute well. Make sure not to burn the garlic. Add black pepper and salt and mix well.
  3. Add in the clean, deveined prawns. Saute gently. Cover wok or pan for about two to three minutes on low heat. Keep stirring to ensure the prawns don’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Remove the lid and check if the prawns are cooked well. Squeeze in some lemon juice.
  5. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot as an appetiser or meal.
Recipe Notes
  • You can also serve butter-garlic prawns with pickle or mint chutney.
  • For a slightly more healthy version, use olive oil instead of butter.
  • Prawns cook fast, so ensure you’re not overcooking them. Large prawns can take anywhere between five to eight minutes to cook. Overcooked prawns will taste rubbery and hard.
  • Use prawns with the tails on as this prevents the prawns from curling.
  • Prawns that are cooked well will turn pink on the outside.
