What is Indo-Chinese Dragon Chicken?
The Indo-Chinese Dragon Chicken is a combination of boneless chicken, crunchy cashews, onions and capsicum tossed in a tantalising red chilli sauce.
The chicken pieces are marinated, fried and then added to a sauce much like the beloved chilli chicken or Manchurian. Other ingredients include classics like – ginger, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup and sugar.

Indo-Chinese Dragon Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
- 500 gms Licious Chicken Mini Bites
- vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp Soy Sauce
- 1 tbsp chilli powder
- 1 tsp Black pepper powder
- 1.5 tsp Garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger
- 5 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 4 tbsp cornstarch
- Salt as required
- ½ cup split cashews
- 2 SPRING ONIONS (CHOPPED)
- 1 capsicum - chopped or sliced
- 1 tbsp Chopped Garlic
- 1 tbsp chopped ginger
- 2 tbsp Soy Sauce
- ¼ cup Tomato ketchup
- 2 tsp Sugar
- 10 dried red chillies
- ½ tsp Ajinomoto optional
Instructions
- Mix egg, garlic paste, chilli powder, cornflour, ginger paste, pepper, soy sauce, and salt in a bowl.
- Add the chicken mini bites to the mix and coat the pieces with the mixture. Let this marinate for 1 hour.
- Heat oil in a wok and fry the marinated chicken till it turns golden brown. Fry the chicken pieces for 2-3 minutes on each side or until just golden otherwise the pieces will be tough. Remove the pieces once done. Place on a paper towel to soak up the excess oil.
- Remove the excess oil from your wok, you should roughly 2 tbsps.
- Add the cashews to the remaining oil and fry them.
- Once done, add the ginger and garlic. Saute well.
- Now, add the dried red chillies. Mix well.
- Once they are fragrant, add the bell pepper or capsicum along with the onions.
- Saute till the onions turn golden brown. Keep stirring.
- Add the soy sauce and tomato ketchup now. Mix well.
- Add sugar and Ajinomoto as well. Stir to mix. Add water if needed.
- Now, gently add the fried chicken to the mixture.
- Also, toss in the spring onions.
- Mix well till the chicken is completely coated in the sauce.
- Serve hot!
