Recipe For Lahori Chargha
Ingredients
- 1 Licious Whole Chicken with Skin
- 50 g Yoghurt
- 1 tablespoon Cumin Powder
- 1 tablespoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup Lemon Juice
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- To prepare the chargha, first, mix together all of the spices and yoghurt in a bowl.
- Rub the spice mixture all over the chicken, making sure to get under the skin as well. Then, drizzle the lemon juice and vegetable oil over the chicken.
- Allow the chicken to marinate for at least an hour. Ideally, it should be marinated overnight for the best results.
- You need to steam and deep-fry the chicken to achieve the same smoky flavour.
- In a large pot, add a steamer rack. Then, add hot water but make sure that it doesn’t come in contact with the steamer.
- Tie the chicken legs with rope or twine and place them on the steamer. Make sure that it doesn’t touch the water.
- Allow the chicken to be steamed for 45 minutes and cover the pot with a lid.
