Instructions

  1. Salt the fish and let it rest for 10 minutes then set it aside.
  2. Steam it for 10-15 minutes on medium flame. Once done, set it aside to cool. When the fish has cooled down, use a fork to flake it apart.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Add urad dal and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  4. Add curry leaves along with crushed ginger and garlic.
  5. Give the mixture a good stir.
  6. Add chopped onions and saute them well for roughly 4-5 minutes, until they start to turn brown.
  7. Add turmeric and pepper powder and saute for an additional minute.
  8. Finally, add the fish flakes to the mixture. Give everything a good stir and check for salt.
