Do you know what makes the holy month of Ramadan even more special? A traditional tantalising, heavenly plate of Mutton haleem! It is said that once you have tasted a luscious haleem, you will never forget it.
It is believed that the cuisine, which was originally an Arabian dish cooked with meat, wheat, ghee, rice, and pulses, came to Hyderabad during the Mughal era via Afghanistan and Iran.
Not only is the Mutton haleem known for its deliciousness, but there are several benefits of haleem too that makes the dish so popular. Haleem is commonly found on Iftar menus throughout Ramadan because of its nourishing properties. It is frequently served during community feasts, usually with tandoori roti.
With slow-digesting components, the meal is heavy in calories and gives instant energy. With the stock and lentils, the dish is also described to be a “one-dish feast in itself.” When the benefits of wheat and dal are mixed with slow-cooked meat proteins, it makes a healthy, nourishing, and drool-worthy feast. Fasting Time Feasting Dish – Recipe of Haleem
Mutton haleem is a fantastic soul meal because of two factors: texture and taste. But how can we get the perfect texture and flavour of haleem? The wheat and lentils are soaked overnight and cooked until tender, which takes at least 7-8 hours. The meat is then blended with spices to make a delicious gravy called Korma.
And the most difficult element of the process is the continual stirring of the dish by hand all the way through. The finished product should have a smooth, porridge-like texture where you can’t distinguish where the grain ends and the meat begins. But it’s a fine line to walk: if you go too far, you’ll end up with a gluey mess. Another consideration is that a great haleem should have a stretchable characteristic, similar to mozzarella.
It’s way too much hard work, right? Wouldn’t it be great if you get the same scrumptious taste of haleem that too without any effort and without any compromise on the quality of the dish? It’s indeed possible. Order our ready-to-cook, freshly marinated mutton haleem which is chef-crafted using an authentic gourmet recipe and can be ready in 8 minutes!
