- Wash the fish cubes and drain the excess water. In a bowl, add the marination ingredients such as yoghurt, minced garlic cloves, turmeric powder, ginger powder, red chilli and salt. Add the fish fillets to the bowl and combine everything well. Set it aside and let the fish pieces marinate for 20-30 minutes.
- Place a large skillet pan on medium heat and add oil to it. Once the oil is hot enough, add chopped onions and cook it until it becomes golden brown. Add tomatoes to the pan and cook it for another 2 minutes. Transfer this mix to a blender. Add grated coconut to the blender and blend all the ingredients into a smooth paste.
- Place a deep-bottomed pan on medium high heat and add oil to it. Add the marinated fish to the pan and fry it on both sides for 5 minutes. Transfer it to a plate.
- Add some oil and the freshly made curry paste to the same pan. Let it cook for a while and then add chopped red chilli, tomato puree, garam masala, curry leaves and salt to the pan. Now add water and give it a good stir. Lastly, add the fried fish pieces to the pan and let the curry simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot with roti or rice.
