- Mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika powder in a bowl. This is your seasoning mix.
- In another pan, place the chicken tenders, and mix in half of the seasoning mix. Next, let your chicken tenders marinate in the seasoning for at least 30 minutes or overnight in the fridge.
- In the remaining seasoning mix, mix the cornflour and all-purpose flour.
- If you are using the cornflakes, crush them in a zip lock bag with the help of a rolling pin until you get a coarse powder.
- When you're ready to fry your chicken tenders, take a bowl and whisk the eggs with 2 tablespoons of water until combined.
- Heat oil in a skillet, and in the meantime, prep your chicken tenders. Assemble your bowl of flour with seasoning, a bowl of cornflakes crumbs and a bowl of whisked eggs.
- Take a chicken tender, dip it in the flour mixture, then shake off the excess flour and dip it in the egg mixture. Once again, dip it into the flour, set it aside, and you are done!
- If you use cornflakes, dip it in the cornflakes the second time instead of the flour. Make sure to press the breading onto the chicken gently so it stays put when frying! Repeat for all the tenders!
- Keep the oil on medium-high, and check if it is ready by inserting a wooden spoon into the oil. If it starts to bubble up, your oil is ready.
- Gently drop in the breaded chicken tenders and fry until golden brown. Once done, place them onto a paper towel to strain the excess oil, and serve warm along with mayonnaise and ketchup.
- That's how you make the perfect fried chicken strips! If you prefer an oil-free version, you can bake the strips in the oven or fry them in an air fryer for 20 minutes.
- Make sure that your flower is seasoned very well, or else your chicken strips can taste bland.
- Firmly press the breading on to the chicken tenders, and make sure that you wait for a few minutes before frying them up. It ensures that the sticks well to the chicken and comes up crispy when fried.
- Make sure to choose a skillet made of cast iron or control the heat well. This ensures that your chicken cooks evenly without getting burnt.
- The oil should be on medium-high heat, as lower heat can rip off the breading, and high heat can end up cooking the top faster while leaving the insides undercooked!
