In a pan, heat oil and shallow fry the Hilsa fish pieces until golden brown and keep aside.
In a pan, heat oil and add black cumin seeds. Once they crackle, add water to it along with turmeric and salt. Let the water boil and then add fried Hilsa pieces. Then add the green chillies and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
Garnish with slit chillies and serve hot with steamed rice.
