Ingredients
- 200 gms Fish Fillets
- Banana Leaves (to wrap)
- 1 tsp Mustard Oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tbs grated coconut
- 1 tbs Mustard Seeds
- 4 tbsp Poppy Seed
- 2 whole Green Chilies
- 5-6 cloves garlic

Instructions
- Soak the grated coconut, mustard seeds, poppy seeds, green chillies and garlic in a little water for about 1 hour. Add the contents to a blender along with the oil and salt and blend the contents to a paste.
- Marinate the fish for about 30 minutes in the paste.
- Gently heat the banana leaves over an open flame for 30 seconds, ensure it does not get burnt.
- Place the marinated fish on the banana leaves and fold edges over the fish to ensure it is tightly wrapped. Secure the edges with toothpicks or thread.
- Steam for about 20 to 30 minutes and serve hot.
Excellent recipe that works! Tried this today with whole cleaned Pabda & without the banana leaf (slid the very lightly fried fish in the gravy… so missed out on char leaf flavor) but the masala proportion in the recipe was so good that it came out plate-lickin great! Had never used coconut in combo with posto/mustard paste and this was I think the trick.
